San Bernardino alle Ossa is a creepy church in Milan flashy with tellurian skulls. However this Italian bone church has an engaging history.
While basing myself in Milan to try Northern Italy by train, I’d listened rumors of a bizarre Catholic church dark divided in a core of a city, totally flashy with tellurian remains.
It’s called San Bernardino alle Ossa, aka “The Bone Church”.
Apparently behind in a 13th century a internal tomb found itself using out of room. Fresh bodies from a circuitously sanatorium were pier adult — with nowhere to bury them. So officials began to puncture adult aged skeletons, relocating them from a tomb to a tiny chamber.
Eventually a church was built subsequent to a bone room, substantially since they felt a bit guilty.
